Online sessions

What are the benefits of online counseling?

The benefits derived from online sessions really depend on your particular situation. For example, for those who live outside of a city it can be a long commute to a therapist’s office; for those who live in a city, parking or taking public transport can also add an hour or two to the time needed for the session.

Many new mothers, working parents, or parents with small children at home, have difficulty finding time for any self care. Online counseling can make it easier to be at home and get the support you and your family needs.

Likewise, some people with chronic illnesses including those with high levels of anxiety, panic, or depression may not be able to drive or easily leave their home. In these situations, online counseling is a doorway to eventually being able to receive in-person therapy if that is ultimately what would best serve you.

Will the information I provide remain confidential?

What you talk about with me is protected as confidential both because this is a health service (information is protected under HIPPA law) and because it’s an oath I took as part of being a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Any limits to confidentiality will be discussed at the time of our first visit.

The video application used is HIPAA-compliant and secure.

What to expect

Who do you work with?

I work with people from age 12+, irregardless of religion, sexual preference, race, or gender identity.

I specialize in Couple and Family counseling as well as anxiety, panic, depression and women’s issues.

What if I am late for my session?

One hour of time is set aside for your session.  I will be available for the remainder of the time we have scheduled together once you arrive but will not be able to meet beyond that window of time.

What happens in the first session?

We will start getting to know each other.  I will get some history around what is bringing you to therapy now and what you would like to see change.  You will also have a chance to get to know me and ask questions that you find important to your safety and growth in the relationship.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

There is a 24 hour cancelation window.  If appointments are canceled within 24 hours the individual will be responsible for the full fee of the office visit.  As insurance does not cover missed appointments, the individual will be billed out of pocket for this expense.

How long are sessions and how often will we meet?

Sessions range from 45-50 minutes. The first session being an assessment, can last up to 60 minutes.

Depending on the particular situation or severity of symptoms, I may recommend beginning with twice weekly meetings and then moving to one time a week, once symptoms have decreased to more manageable levels.

Do you prescribe medication?

No.  If we decide that medication is a needed adjunct to our work together we will discuss options for a medication assessment.

Rates and payment

What are your rates?

I am covered in-network for United Health, Aetna and Cigna insurance. For those covered by other insurance or those without a mental health benefit, We can discuss specific rates and the option of out of network benefits.

Which payment methods can I use?

I accept payment through Zelle, Paypal, cash, or check. Payment is billed at the end of the month for services incurred during the month.
